Crank Shaft Pulley

66 PW that is getting a '53 Chrysler 265. I'm seeing that the snout of the crankshaft onto which the pulley hub mounts is 1.375" on both the 251 and the 265 crank. But, the pully hub is about 1/8" less than that, so I can't bottom the hub out against the crank. But even if I could, that would put the pulley way to close to the motor and not line up with the water pump from the 251 that I'm transferring over. But, it was obviously this way on the 251.

So, is it OK to just push the pulley hub only part way onto to crank snout? I expected that it would bottom out on the crank so it would keep the slinger from spinning, and also allow me to torque the crank bolt down.

Is this the normal situation, or do I need to make sleeve/spacer to make up the gap?
