I like the XZL over the XL. I have bot, the XZL is quieter and better on the road. Off road both are very good. Snow and ice are not their best environment. If it's dry cold unpacked snow they are OK. Add any packed or icy snow they need chains. The large lugs on the treads are the issue on packed snow or ice. People say sipe the tires and they will be better. I say no way as it is ruining a good tire by speeding up wear. But I don't live in snow country. I was lucky, one of my trucks came with 2 sets of chains that are basically brand new with the exception of surface rust. They may have been used a couple of times.
