Started over, from scratch, after a few days of "rest".
Crank snout is 1.38" long. Crank Pulley (from the 251) is 1.69" deep. So, the hub can bottom out on the crank snout. I don't know what I mis-measured the first time around.
The crank pulley is 3.0" from the base of the hub to the centerline of the V-groove . The water pump pulley, mounted on the 251 water pump on the 265 block, has its V-groove center 2.75" out from the base of the snout.
So, all I need is a spacer to push the water-pump pulley out a bit, and everything is good to go.
I apologize for my error somewhere leading you all on a wild goose chase. But, it does remind me that taking a break, starting afresh, throwing the old piece of paper away, can often "solve" the problem.
