you are correct, the fuel line is 5/16 and brake lines are 1/4? however, if you want as close to factory as possible, using the tubing to make your pattern either size, it will enable you to make more precise bends than you could using a piece of wire less than 1/2 the OD would. Personally, I make my finish fuel lines from 3/8 steel tube as I use my trucks for off road service so a better fuel flow from the rear mounted tank can prevent stalls in tough situations, plus better flow through fuel pump, an inling filter. just my [reference
