to run non hump on hump engine you will have to plug the hole in the block then run the early type Thermostat housing and bypass piece that goes on top of water pump in order to have bypass.
I don't have any compression ratio data on those heads but none were very high. You can measure the volume of the combustion chambers to figure out actual ratio. I shave up to .075 off of most the flatheads I have rebuilt and end up in the 8.5 to one range. they love the extra compression. way more efficient with todays gas.
