This truck is one of 96,145 civilian units produced from 1946 to 1968. The truck was an Alabama truck since new, used initially in the coal mining industry in south Alabama. A partial mechanical restoration by the third owner began in 2012 including rebuilding the carburetor, new wheel cylinders, new brake shoes, new brake lines, new master cylinder, new fuel lines, new radiator, new hoses, new locking hubs, new windshield glass with rebuilt crank-out mechanism, new side windows, new taillights, reupholstered headliner and seat in brown heavy-duty period correct vinyl and custom rims with BF Goodrich BAJA T/A 37x12.50R16.5 tires. All previous owners' records and restoration efforts are deemed reliable but not guaranteed.
The current owner, located in Sarasota, FL, completed the body off-frame restoration after purchasing the vehicle on 6/21/14. All mechanical, body, and sheet metal components that needed to be repaired or replaced were done so. The engine and drivetrain are original to the vehicle. The truck was brought back to its original as-can-be condition except for improvements including custom power steering, custom power brakes, electronic ignition, and synthetic rope winch cable. The body including the truck bed, tailgate, running boards, and fenders were all replaced with the factory correct, after-market body parts, including correct knurled edges on the front fenders, and repainted in current-day, RAM POWER WAGON, "Flame Red", performed by long-time Dodge Mopar restoration specialists, Terry Moyer and Jim Peterson of Gibsonton, Florida. All mechanical restoration improvements and assembly was performed by master mechanic, Chris Downie of Jim Taylor Automotive and 10th Street Garage of Sarasota, FL. The restoration was recently completed in July, 2024. The current recorded mileage is 34,775.6 and is believed to be actual.
