A litle trick I have done for years when installing a transmission, makes quick for a home run.
Get 2 bolts same size and thread as the transmission bolts, BUT 8 INCHES LONG. Cut the head off and grind a taper to a sharp point. Now hand screw thes into the top 2 bolt holes, just snug up, hand tite is good. Now with the tranny aimed well, up and down, right to left start pushing the tranny into the Bell Housing with the 2 bolts you screwed in as guides. Once she is sliding on the 2 guide bolts, just minor adjustments so it keeps sliding
easily. DO NOT hang any weight on the long bolts, you may bend them. Once the tranny is fully inserted, put the bottom 2 tranny bolts in place and snug up. Then one at a time remove
the long guide bolts and replace with the proper
tranny bolts. Your in, its a home run, no sweat.
If the tranny will not fully insert with this method
something is wrong.......probably clutch alignment.
